Crop Reports
Canada Crop Report - August 27, 2010
The Ontario Crop is progressing rapidly as the days get shorter and cooler. Most soybeans in Maturity group 2 and below if planted in May have reached the R6 stage. Later maturing varieties are about 7-10 days behind the early varieties. Most fields are looking good, but have quite a bit of lodging. In heavily lodged areas White Mould is present, but it is not know what impact this will have on yield and quality. Light insect pressure still exists in most fields, but is not a yield or quality concern at this time. Harvest of early maturing varieties is expected to start about September 15, with late maturing varieties closer to October 1st. The weather forecast calls for warm dry conditions for the next week.
